Once your flow is set up in Flowsite, the next step is connecting your Power BI integration file and building dashboards that bring your Dashpivot data to life.
Power BI lets you turn your Dashpivot form data into visual reports — charts, graphs, KPI cards, and filtered dashboards — that update automatically each time Flowsite runs. This guide covers how to connect your file, refresh your data, and reset your credentials if needed.
Prerequisites
Plan: All Plan Types
Permission: Flowsite Org Controller
Skills Required: Workflow Automation
Device Type: Computer/Browser
Subscription: Dashpivot, Flowsite, Microsoft Power BI
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 — Connect your Power BI integration file to Flowsite
Open your Power BI integration file
Go to the Home tab in the menu bar
Click Refresh
When the Access Web Content window appears, select Basic
In the Select which level to apply these settings to dropdown, select the URL containing "nod"
Enter your Flowsite credentials and click Connect
Wait for the status at the bottom left to change from Running background query to Ready
Your Power BI file is now connected and ready to use
Step 2 — Build your dashboard
In the Visualizations pane, select the chart or visual type you want to add (bar chart, line chart, table, card, etc.)
In the Fields pane, drag the relevant Dashpivot data fields into your visual
Use Filters to let users drill down by project, date range, category, or any other field available in your data
Add KPI cards to surface key metrics at a glance — such as totals, averages, or completion rates
Repeat for each visual you want on the dashboard, then arrange and resize them to fit your layout
Save the file when done
Notes
Make sure the credentials you enter match the Flowsite flow URL for your integration. Mismatched credentials will cause a connection error.
If the credentials window does not appear after clicking Refresh, your credentials are already saved and the data will update automatically.
Power BI does not support manual data entry directly. If you need to include data that is not captured in Dashpivot forms (such as budget targets or reference values), store it in a separate Excel file and connect that file as an additional data source.
The charts, KPIs, filters, and layout of your dashboard are fully customizable to match the reporting needs of each project or team.
FAQs
How do I reset my Flowsite credentials in Power BI?
Go to Home > Get Data (dropdown) > Data Source Settings, select the URL, click Clear Permissions, then close the window and click Refresh to reconnect. See How to Reset Flowsite Credentials on Power BI Integration Files for the full steps.
What types of visuals can I create in Power BI with Dashpivot data?
You can build bar charts, line charts, pie charts, tables, KPI cards, scatter plots, and more. The visuals available depend on the data fields in your Dashpivot templates. Common use cases include planned vs. actual comparisons, safety trend charts, timesheet summaries, and inspection pass/fail rates.
Can I show Actions data in my Power BI dashboard?
Yes. When you use the Actions source in your Flowsite flow, the data includes the Action Status field (open or closed). You can use this to filter or group your visuals by action status in Power BI.
How do I get the latest data into my dashboard?
Flowsite updates your data automatically on the schedule set in your flow. To get the latest data immediately, trigger the flow manually in Flowsite and then click Refresh in Power BI. See How to Manually Refresh a Flow for Flowsite Data in Power BI for the full steps.
