Learn how to manually trigger a Flowsite flow and refresh your Power BI data to get the latest Dashpivot data on demand.

Written by Nina Yang

This guide explains how to manually trigger a flow in Flowsite and refresh your data in Power BI to get the latest Dashpivot data without waiting for the next scheduled run.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

  • Plan: All Plan Types

  • Permission: Flowsite Org Controller

  • Skills Required: Workflow Automation

  • Device Type: Computer/Browser

  • Subscription: Dashpivot, Flowsite, Microsoft Power BI

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1 — Trigger the flow in Flowsite

  1. Log in to your Flowsite account

  2. Go to the Flows tab

  3. Locate the flow connected to your Power BI dashboard

  4. Click Trigger Flow Manually

  5. Wait for the flow status to confirm the run has completed

Step 2 — Refresh data in Power BI

  1. Open your Power BI file

  2. Go to the Home tab in the menu bar

  3. Click Refresh

  4. If an Access Web Content window appears, select Basic

  5. In the Select which level to apply these settings to dropdown, select the URL containing "nod"

  6. Enter your Flowsite credentials and click Connect

  7. Wait for the status at the bottom left to change from Running background query to Ready

  8. Your Power BI dashboard now shows the latest data from Dashpivot

Notes

  • If you are opening the Power BI file for the first time, you will be prompted to enter your Flowsite credentials when you click Refresh. Follow steps 9–12 above to complete the connection.

  • If the credentials window does not appear after clicking Refresh, your credentials are already saved and the data will update automatically.

  • If your credentials are not working, try typing them manually instead of pasting. Extra spaces can cause connection errors.

FAQs

Why does my Power BI data not update after I click Refresh?
The flow in Flowsite may not have finished its run yet. Go to Flowsite, trigger the flow manually, wait for the run to complete, then refresh Power BI again.

Do I need to trigger the flow manually every time?
No. Flowsite runs on a scheduled trigger based on your flow settings. Triggering manually is only needed when you want the latest data right away, without waiting for the next scheduled run.

My credentials are not working — what should I check?
Make sure there are no extra spaces before or after your username or password. Try typing them manually instead of pasting. If the issue continues, verify that your Flowsite account is still active.
