How to Record an Issue Without Completing a Form on Gearbelt

Learn how to quickly record an issue in Gearbelt without completing a full inspection or pre-start form

Sometimes issues are identified while moving between tasks and there may not be time to complete a full inspection or pre-start form. Gearbelt allows you to quickly record an issue directly against an asset using either the asset QR code on mobile or through the web app. This ensures the issue is logged immediately so it can be tracked and addressed.

Prerequisites

Before you begin make sure you have the following:

  • Plan: All Plan Types

  • Permission: Gearbelt Contributor

  • Skills Required: QR Scanning

  • Device Type: mobile or computer

  • Subscription: Gearbelt

Step-by-Step Instructions

Option 1: Mobile – Using Asset QR Code

  1. Scan the asset QR code using your mobile camera to open the asset profile.

  2. Press the green + button in the bottom right corner of the screen to add a new issue.

  3. Select Create issue.

  4. Complete the issue information including Field Reference (optional), Issue Severity, Issue Title, and Photos.

  5. Select Save in the top right corner of the screen.

  6. The issue will be added to the activity feed for the asset.

Option 2: Web – Using the Asset Web App

  1. Navigate to the Issues section under Management in the left-hand side navigation menu and select the green Create Issue button in the top right corner of the register.

  2. Select the asset from the dropdown list. You can begin typing to narrow down the list.

  3. Complete the issue details including Title, Description, Severity, Photos, and Tags, then select Save.

  4. The issue will be added to the Issues register.
