Can I change a list property type once it’s been selected?

Learn if and how you can change the property type of a list column after it’s been chosen.

Written by Adriana De Souza

List properties in Dashpivot let you define what type of data each column holds (e.g., text, date, number). Sometimes you might want to update the type after it’s already set.

Direct Answer

No, not at the moment. Once a property type in a list has been selected, it is fixed and cannot be changed.

How It Works / Workaround

If you need a different property type:

  • Add a new property column next to the one you want to replace.

  • Click the three dots at the top right of the existing column to insert a new one to the left or right.

  • Set the new column to the correct property type.

  • Once you’ve moved or recreated any needed data, you can delete the old column.

Limitations or Alternatives

  • There’s no direct edit option to switch types after selection.

  • If you have many items with existing data, plan how you’ll transfer or re-enter values into the new column.
