How to Access and View a Gearbelt Asset Profile in Sitemate Mobile

Learn how to open a Gearbelt asset profile in Sitemate Mobile and view asset details, inspections, issues, and activity history in one place.

Written by Nina Yang

Every Gearbelt asset has a unique QR code that links directly to its profile in Sitemate Mobile. Scanning the QR code with the Sitemate Mobile app opens the asset profile, where you can view asset details in the Overview tab, complete inspections, raise issues, and review activity history — all in one place.

Prerequisites

Before you begin make sure you have the following:

  • Plan: All Plan Types

  • Permission: Gearbelt Contributor

  • Skills Required: QR scanning

  • Device Type: Mobile Device

  • Subscription: Gearbelt

Step-by-Step Instructions

Scan the Asset QR Code in Sitemate Mobile App

  1. Open the Sitemate Mobile app on your device.

  2. Tap Scan QR Code from the home screen.

  3. Point your camera at the asset's QR code.

  4. The asset profile will open on the Overview tab.

  5. The asset is now saved in the My Assets section on the home screen.

Scan the Asset QR Code Using Your Device's Native Camera

  1. Open your device's native camera app.

  2. Point it at the asset's QR code.

  3. Tap the notification or banner that appears.

  4. The asset profile will open directly in Sitemate Mobile and the asset will be saved to My Assets.

📓 Note: Sitemate Mobile must be installed on your device for the QR code to open the asset profile.

Open from My Assets in Sitemate Mobile App

  1. Open the Sitemate Mobile app.

  2. Go to My Assets if the asset was added by scanning the asset QR code before.

  3. Select the asset from the list.

  4. The asset profile will open on the Overview tab.

Scanning a Blank or Unlinked QR Sticker

If you scan a Gearbelt QR sticker that has not yet been linked to an asset, Sitemate Mobile will prompt you to assign that QR code to an asset directly in the app.

To assign a blank QR sticker in Sitemate Mobile:

  1. Open the Sitemate Mobile app.

  2. Scan the blank QR sticker using the SMM in-app QR scanner or your device's native camera.

  3. Follow the on-screen prompt to assign the QR code to an asset.

📓 Note: Sitemate Mobile must be installed on your device to assign a blank QR code to an asset. This feature was introduced in SMM 26.12.

Notes

  • Once an asset is scanned while online, it is automatically saved to My Assets and accessible even offline.

  • The Populate Last Location setting in Gearbelt Web controls whether the location field is pre-filled with the asset's last known location when you open a record form. This applies consistently across Gearbelt Web and Sitemate Mobile. You can enable or disable this in Settings in Gearbelt Web.

  • The asset profile includes four tabs: Activity, Inspections, Issues, and Overview (asset details).
