To set up Sitemate MCP in ChatGPT, enable MCP access in Dashpivot, find Sitemate in the ChatGPT App Store, and authenticate your account. Sitemate MCP allows you to connect your Dashpivot account directly to ChatGPT so you can query and interact with your data using natural language.
This guide walks you through connecting Sitemate MCP to ChatGPT via the ChatGPT App Store. This only takes a few minutes.
Prerequisites
Before you begin make sure you have the following:
Plan: All Plan Types
Permission: atleast a Team Member
Device Type: Desktop or laptop computer
Subscription: ChatGPT Plus, Team, or Enterprise and Dashpivot
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Enable MCP Access for Your Workspace
Before anyone in your workspace can use MCP, an Org Controller must enable access in Dashpivot security settings.
Note: If you're not an Org Controller, ask your workspace admin to complete this step.
If you are an Org Controller:
Log in to Dashpivot
Navigate to Security settings for your workspace under Sitemate Start
Find the MCP Access toggle
Set the MCP access level to enabled (any level other than "None" will enable MCP access)
Click Save changes
Once MCP access is enabled at the workspace level, users in that workspace can proceed to connect via ChatGPT.
Note: Your workspace's Org Controller needs to enable MCP access before anyone can connect AI tools to your workspace data. This ensures your organisation has full control over whether external AI services can access your projects, forms, and reports.
Step 2: Find Sitemate in the ChatGPT App Store
Open ChatGPT and go to Settings → Apps & Connections.
Click Explore Apps or navigate to the ChatGPT App Store.
Search for "Sitemate".
Select the Sitemate app from the results.
Step 3: Authenticate with Sitemate
Click Connect.
You'll be redirected to the Sitemate login page to authorise the connection.
Sign in with your Sitemate credentials.
Review the permissions and click Approve / Authorise.
You'll be redirected back to ChatGPT — the connection should now show as Connected.
Step 4: Start Using Sitemate MCP in ChatGPT
Open a new chat in ChatGPT.
Look for the tools icon below the message input to confirm the Sitemate MCP tools are available.
Try example queries such as:
"Show me my workspaces in Dashpivot""What forms were submitted this week?""List all overdue forms in [project name]"
Notes
Access control: MCP must be enabled at the workspace level by an Org Controller via Settings > Security.
Data security: You can only access data you already have permission to view in Dashpivot.
Read-only access: Sitemate MCP is read-only in v1. You cannot create, edit, or delete data through ChatGPT.
Troubleshooting
MCP access is not enabled for my workspace
Only Org Controllers can enable MCP access. Contact your workspace's Org Controller and ask them to enable MCP access under Security Settings. If MCP access is set to "None", users in that workspace will not be able to authenticate with the MCP server.
I can't find Sitemate in the App Store
Make sure you're searching for "Sitemate" (not "Dashpivot" or "Sitemate MCP"). If the app doesn't appear, try refreshing the store or contact your Sitemate representative.
Connection fails or times out
Try disconnecting and reconnecting under Settings → Apps & Connections. If the issue persists, contact your Sitemate representative.
Authentication error
Make sure you're signing in with the same Sitemate account that has MCP access enabled. Also confirm that MCP access has been enabled for your workspace (Step 1).
Tools aren't showing in chat
Try refreshing ChatGPT or starting a new chat. If the issue persists, disconnect and reconnect the MCP integration under Settings → Apps & Connections.
