How to Set Up Sitemate MCP on Claude

Learn how to connect Sitemate MCP to Claude to access and query your Dashpivot data via chat.

To set up Sitemate MCP in Claude, enable MCP access in Dashpivot, find the Sitemate connector in Claude's Connector directory, and authenticate your account.

This guide walks you through connecting Sitemate MCP to Claude Web. This process allows you to connect your Sitemate account and start querying Dashpivot data directly within Claude.

⚠️ To use Sitemate MCP, an Org Controller must first enable the MCP Access toggle in Settings > Security within Dashpivot.

Prerequisites

Before you begin make sure you have the following:

  • Plan: All Plan Types

  • Permission: Org Controller

  • Skills Required: Configuration setup

  • Device Type: Computer/Browser

  • Subscription: Claude account with custom connector capability

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Enable MCP Access for Your Workspace

An Org Controller must enable MCP access in Dashpivot before anyone can connect.

Important: Enabling MCP at the workspace level grants all users in that workspace the ability to connect. The data each user can access is tied to their existing Dashpivot permissions.

If you're not an Org Controller, ask your workspace admin to complete this step. If you are an Org Controller:

  1. Log in to Dashpivot.

  2. Navigate to Security Settings for your workspace.

  3. Find the MCP Access toggle.

  4. Set the MCP access level to enabled (any level other than "None" will enable MCP access).

  5. Click Save.

Step 2: Go to Connector Settings

  1. Start a new chat.

  2. Click on the + button in the bottom left of the chat pane.

  3. Navigate to Connectors > Manage Connectors.

  4. In the Connectors settings, click on the + button.

  5. Click Add custom connector.

Step 3: Create a New MCP Connection

  1. Enter the following details:

  2. Click Add.

Step 4: Authenticate with Sitemate

  1. In Connector settings, locate the Sitemate Connector under Not Connected.

  2. Click the connector.

  3. Click Connect.

  4. Sign in using your Sitemate credentials.

  5. Review permissions and click Approve / Authorise.

  6. Confirm the connection appears under the Connected section.

Step 5: Start Using Sitemate MCP in Chat

  1. Start a new chat.

  2. Click the + button in the bottom left of the chat pane.

  3. Navigate to Connectors.

  4. Select the Sitemate MCP connector.

  5. Begin querying your Dashpivot data


Notes

  • Access required: MCP must be enabled at the workspace level by an Org Controller via Settings > Security

  • Data security: You can only access data you already have permission to view


Troubleshooting

  • Connection fails or times out
    Ensure the MCP Server URL is exactly: https://mcp.sitemate.com/mcp

  • Authentication error
    Confirm you are using a Sitemate account with MCP access enabled. Contact your Sitemate representative if unsure.

  • Tools not showing in chat
    Refresh Claude or start a new chat. If the issue persists, disconnect and reconnect the MCP integration.
