Keeping your asset information accurate in Gearbelt ensures you can track assets efficiently, maintain compliance, and avoid issues caused by outdated details. You may need to update information such as location, owner, condition, operator, Asset Tags, or maintenance history. This guide explains how to edit an asset’s details in your Gearbelt workspace.
Prerequisites
Before you begin make sure you have the following:

Step-by-Step Instructions
Go to the Assets section.
Click on the asset you want to update.
On the asset’s Overview page, update the relevant details.
Once you have completed the required edits, scroll down the page and select Save to apply your changes.
Notes
Asset Tags — Asset Tags can be added or updated in the Asset Tags field on the asset's Overview page. Tags appear as chips in the Assets and Inspections registers and are included in the CSV export.
Saving changes — All edits on the Overview page must be saved using the Save button at the bottom. Navigating away without saving will discard your changes.
Asset profile tabs — In addition to the Overview page, an asset profile also includes tabs for Schedule Checks (maintenance and compliance history), Work Orders, Inspections, Issues, and Documents. These tabs are view-only from the asset profile — edits to individual records are made from their respective registers.

What fields can I edit on an asset?
You can edit fields including the asset name, location, owner, condition, operator, Asset Tags, and other custom fields configured in your workspace.
Can I edit asset details on mobile?
Asset details can be viewed on the Gearbelt Mobile App, but editing is currently only supported on Gearbelt web.
Can I edit multiple assets at once?
Bulk editing is not currently supported — each asset must be updated individually from its Overview page.
Who can edit asset details?
Any user with at least Gearbelt Contributor permission can edit asset details.
