What are Field Settings on Dashpivot Web?

Learn what field settings are and how they affect fields in a Dashpivot template.

Written by Adriana De Souza

Field settings are options you can apply to individual fields in a Dashpivot template to change how they behave or appear. These settings help tailor how data is captured and processed in your form.

Definition

Field settings are configurable options for a field in a Dashpivot template that adjust how the field behaves when completing a form.

Field Settings Include:

  • Required:

    • This will make the field mandatory to complete - the user won't be able to Save/Submit the field until completed

  • Hide in Form PDF Exports:

    • This will exclude the field from being visible when exporting as a PDF

For tables, enabling this setting hides the entire table (not individual columns) in PDF exports.

    • Note: This field will still be visible within Dashpivot Web/Mobile.

  • Exclude in Form Cloning

    • This feature prevents the field having their content copied across when the form is cloned

    • Note: This setting is not available for Page Breaks or Signatures

  • Exclude Table Columns in Form Cloning

    • In the template editor, in the ellipse menu on any Default or Prefilled table column, you can select the checkbox for 'Exclude in form Cloning?'

    • Any cloned forms under this template will exclude information in columns where this setting is enabled. Instead, those cells will appear blank

What it’s used for

Field settings let you control whether a field is mandatory, appears in PDF exports, or is excluded during form cloning. These settings provide flexibility in managing how specific fields function and display.

When to use it

Use field settings when you need certain fields to be required, hidden in PDF exports, or excluded when copying forms to ensure your template behaves as intended.

Note:

  • To make a specific column required (either Default or Prefilled), you'll instead need to click on the '...' button, located on the top of each row and/or column to access the setting
