Repeating groups and field limits in Dashpivot are enforced at both the template and plan level.
This article explains every error you may see when those limits are exceeded or a repeating group is configured incorrectly, and how to fix it.
"Repeating group fields must contain at least one field." / "This template contains incomplete repeating group fields."
Why this happens
A repeating group was added to the template but no fields were placed inside it. Empty repeating groups are not allowed.
How to fix it
Add at least one field inside the repeating group, or delete the repeating group if it's not needed.
"A repeating group can contain up to 10 fields." / "Limit of 10 fields in a repeating group exceeded."
Why this happens
Each repeating group has a maximum of 10 fields.
How to fix it
Remove fields from the repeating group until there are 10 or fewer. If you need more fields, consider splitting content across multiple repeating groups.
"This field is not supported for repeating groups."
Why this happens
Only the following field types can be placed inside a repeating group: Single Line Input, Multi-line Input, Pre-filled Text, Date, Plain Date, Plain Date Range, Yes/No, Photo, Person, and Category. All other field types — including Approval Signatures, page breaks, tables, and repeating groups themselves — are not supported.
How to fix it
Remove the unsupported field from the repeating group and place it outside instead.
"Required is not supported in repeating groups."
Why this happens
Fields inside a repeating group cannot be marked as required.
How to fix it
Turn off the Required setting for any field inside the repeating group.
"This template contains excess fields that exceed the supported plan limit. Please remove the excess fields."
Why this happens
Your plan also limits the number of repeating groups per template to 5, regardless of plan tier. Exceeding this will block saving even if the field count is within limit.
How to fix it
Remove fields until the count is within your plan's limit. To increase the limit, upgrade your plan.
"You have exceeded the Location field limit for your plan type."
Why this happens
Your plan allows a limited number of Location fields per template.
How to fix it
Remove excess Location fields. To add more, upgrade your plan.
"Unable to perform this action. Pasting these values will create additional fields that exceed your current plan limit."
Why this happens
Pasting the selected content would create more fields than your plan allows.
How to fix it
Remove some existing fields before pasting, or paste fewer fields at a time.
If the issue continues
For plan limit errors, contact your account admin to review your current plan. If you believe the limit count is incorrect — for example, the field count looks right in the editor but the error persists — try refreshing the page and saving again.
