Introduction
Recording and managing timesheet data in construction typically involves paper forms, manual re-entry into payroll systems, and hours spent reconciling discrepancies across projects and teams. The more employees and projects involved, the harder it becomes to get an accurate picture of hours worked, costs incurred, and where time is being spent.
By connecting Dashpivot timesheets to Power BI via Flowsite, your timesheet data flows automatically into a live dashboard — giving payroll managers, project managers, and administrators a single view of daily hours, cost code breakdowns, allowances, and workforce activity across all projects, without any manual exports or re-entry.
Key features
KPI cards — Surface total hours worked and total delay hours at a glance
Hours by labor type — Column chart breaking down total hours worked and delay hours by external and internal labor, with values visible on hover
Hours and delay by location — Column chart showing total hours worked and delay hours per location
Per-employee table — View hours worked and delay hours for each employee, with totals at the bottom
Hours over time — Line graph tracking total hours worked and delay hours day by day, with daily detail on hover
Project filter — Drill down to a specific project or select multiple at once using Ctrl+click, with a clear selections option to reset
Shift date filter — Narrow results by date range using a slider or calendar pop-up. Dates without data are not highlighted in the calendar
Click-to-filter — Click on any chart or table row to filter all other visuals to that data point. Click on a blank area or the same row again to reset
Customisable layout — Charts, KPIs, and filters can be adjusted to match the data available and the reporting needs of each project or team
Best practices
Make sure employee names in Dashpivot match exactly how they appear in your payroll system — name matching is case sensitive, so consistency at the data entry level is important.
If you need to make manual corrections or add data that cannot be captured in Dashpivot forms (such as allowance adjustments or payroll categories), link a separate Excel file to your Power BI file for manual entry.
Use cost codes and activity categories consistently across your Dashpivot timesheet templates so filters and breakdowns in Power BI work as expected.
