What is Storm?

Learn what Storm is and how it helps teams capture and complete forms using AI-powered workflows

Written by Nina Yang

Storm is Sitemate's AI Data Capture Agent, built specifically for the front line of the built world.

It is available on Dashpivot Web, Dashpivot Mobile and Sitemate Mobile, and is a core system capability that helps teams generate and complete forms automatically using AI-assisted workflows. By allowing workers and teams to capture site information using natural inputs — such as voice notes, photos, and typed text, alongside contextual data like weather and location — Storm significantly reduces manual form filling.

The Core Capabilities of Storm

Storm operates across two primary functional areas in the Sitemate ecosystem:

AI Templates

AI Templates helps teams generate structured Dashpivot templates from simple text prompts or by importing existing paperwork, such as Word documents, PDFs, Excel files, and images of forms. This allows administrators and project teams to build digital forms faster with minimal manual setup.

AI Form Fill

AI Form Fill helps field workers complete form entries using voice recordings, photos, typed text, notes, weather data, and location data. Storm reviews the provided information and automatically drafts form responses for users to evaluate before saving.

Where Storm is Available

Storm is available across:

  • Dashpivot Web

  • Dashpivot Mobile

  • selected Sitemate Mobile workflows

Note: Feature availability may vary depending on your specific platform and workflow configuration.

How Storm Works

When multiple inputs are provided together — for example, a voice note describing a defect and a nameplate photo — Storm merges them into a single form entry, drawing the appropriate data from each source.

Storm extracts the relevant information from these disparate sources and maps it directly into supported form fields inside Dashpivot. Where confidence is low, Storm flags fields for review rather than filling them with a guess

Important Things to Know

  • Storm handles the heavy lifting of drafting data, but it never automatically submits forms.

  • Required fields remain mandatory and must be completed or confirmed by the user.

  • Users retain complete control to review, rewrite, or clear any AI-generated responses.

  • Workspace administrators can control exactly where AI features are enabled. Governance for AI Form Fill can be managed at the workspace level, template level, and down to individual field levels.

  • Certain fields are never auto-filled: signatures and approval sign-offs, system-generated numbers (such as permit or document numbers), and prefilled template content. These always require manual input.

Storm and AI Safety

Sitemate enforces strict data privacy boundaries for all Storm operations:

  • No Training on Customer Data: Customer data submitted through Storm prompts, audio, or files is never used to train AI models.

  • Enterprise Governance: Built-in controls and permission features help teams manage how AI functions across their corporate workflows.
