The Sitemate Start Account Layer is a new layer above your workspaces that lets customers centrally manage users, templates, and lists across multiple workspaces in a single Sitemate Start account.
What it's used for
Your Sitemate Start Account is used to:
View users across all workspaces in your Sitemate Start account — including Dashpivot, Flowsite and Gearbelt users — without having to open each workspace individually.
Create and manage standard templates that can be pulled into multiple Dashpivot workspaces, keeping content consistent across business units, joint ventures, and projects.
Create and manage shared reference lists (such as employee lists, project codes, or equipment registries) that can be pulled into multiple Dashpivot workspaces.
Templates and lists are only editable at the Account Layer. Once pulled into a workspace they are read-only at the workspace level — workspace users cannot add, edit or remove items, or change the structure. This protects governance and consistency across workspaces. For pulled lists at project folder level there is a restricted picker that lets workspace users choose which items from the parent list to surface in a specific project, but new items can only be created at the Account Layer.
When to use it
Use the Account Layer when:
Your organisation operates multiple Dashpivot workspaces (for example, separate workspaces per business unit, JV, alliance, or region).
You need to maintain a single "master" version of a template or list and have it available across those workspaces.
You need visibility into your full user base across all workspaces in a Sitemate Start account.
You want the master template or list to be read-only in workspaces (only the Account Layer can change it).
If you only operate one Dashpivot workspace, or you need workspace users to be able to add their own list items, the standard workspace-level Template Library and List Library will continue to be the right place to manage these items.
Who does what
Role | What they do |
Account Admin | Creates, edits and archives Account Templates and Account Lists. Manages Account Admin permissions. Works at the Account Layer. |
Org Controller (in a workspace) | Pulls Account Templates and Account Lists into their workspace from the workspace home level. Configures workspace-level settings on the synced copy (e.g. date-expiry notification recipients). |
"Pull" is the user-facing term for bringing an Account Template or Account List into a workspace. It's initiated inside the workspace by an Org Controller — not from the Account Layer side.
