Learn how to open a Gearbelt asset profile in Sitemate Mobile by scanning its QR code or selecting it from My Assets

Written by Nina Yang

Every Gearbelt asset has a unique QR code that links directly to its profile in Sitemate Mobile. Scanning the QR code with Sitemate Mobile app opens the asset so you can complete inspections, raise issues, and view its activity history.

Prerequisites

Before you begin make sure you have the following:

  • Plan: All Plan Types

  • Permission: Gearbelt Contributor

  • Skills Required: QR scanning

  • Device Type: Mobile Device

  • Subscription: Gearbelt

Step-by-Step Instructions

Scan the Asset QR Code in Sitemate Mobile App

  1. Open the Sitemate Mobile app on your device.

  2. Tap Scan QR Code from the home screen.

  3. Point your camera at the asset's QR code.

  4. The asset profile will open automatically.

  5. The asset is now saved in the My Assets section on the home screen.

  1. Open the Sitemate Mobile app.

  2. Go to My Assets if the asset was added by scanning the asset QR code before.

  3. Select the asset from the list.

  4. The asset profile will open.

Scanning a Blank or Unlinked QR Sticker

If you scan a Gearbelt QR sticker that has not yet been linked to an asset, Sitemate Mobile will display a prompt directing you to open Gearbelt Web to complete the linking step.

To link the sticker to an asset in Gearbelt Web:

  1. Open Gearbelt Web.

  2. Navigate to the asset you want to link to the sticker.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to assign the QR sticker to the asset.

  4. Once linked, scan the sticker again in Sitemate Mobile to open the asset profile.

📓 Note: Linking a QR sticker to an asset must be completed in Gearbelt Web. You cannot link a sticker from within the Sitemate Mobile app.

Notes

  • Once an asset is scanned while online, it is automatically saved to My Assets and accessible even offline.

  • The Populate Last Location setting in Gearbelt Web controls whether the location field is pre-filled with the asset's last known location when you open a record form. This applies consistently across Gearbelt Web and Sitemate Mobile. You can enable or disable this in Settings in Gearbelt Web.
