Learn how to connect external systems such as Dashpivot, Xero, QuickBooks, and SharePoint to your Flowsite workspace so data can flow between platforms for automated workflows.

Written by Adriana De Souza

Use this guide to connect external systems such as Dashpivot, Xero, or QuickBooks in Flowsite so data can flow between platforms for automated workflows. Connections must be established before you can create any flows.

Prerequisites

Before you begin make sure you have the following:

  • Plan: All paid plans (Standard and above)

  • Permission: Flowsite Org Controller (recommended — the connection acts as your user and you must be able to view the relevant Dashpivot templates)

  • Skills Required: Non-Dashpivot (Flowsite)

  • Device Type: Computer / Browser

  • Subscription: Active Flowsite subscription plus an active subscription to the system you are connecting (e.g. Dashpivot, Xero, QuickBooks)

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Login to Flowsite

  2. Select Connections from the top navigation.

  3. Scroll down the page to view the available system integrations.

  4. Select Connect under the relevant system.

  5. Enter your login details for the external system when prompted.

  6. Confirm the connection once authentication is complete.

  7. View the connected system in the Connections table.

    • This table details all the current connections made with Flowsite including the System Name, Status of Connection & Actions

    • In the Actions column, you can click to Remove the Connection, if required.

Notes

  • Who should create the Dashpivot connection?

The connection acts as the user who sets it up — they must be able to view the Dashpivot templates used in your flows. In most cases this will be an Org Controller.

  • Microsoft Power BI and Excel do not require a direct connection in Flowsite.

See the steps for setting up a Power BI and Excel flow.

  • Connections can expire — especially for Xero, QuickBooks, and Microsoft/SharePoint. If a run fails with a connection error, go to the Connections tab and click Reconnect to re-authorise. For Microsoft connections, if there is no Reconnect button, remove the connection and create a new one, then re-point your flows to the new connection.
