How to Create a Template on Dashpivot Web

Learn how to create a template to standardise your forms and processes in Dashpivot Web

Written by Adriana De Souza

Templates in Dashpivot let you make work consistent across your company. Once created, templates can be used to generate consistent, repeatable forms for your team.

Prerequisites

Before you begin make sure you have the following:

  • Plan: All Plan Types

  • Permission:

    • Home Folder (Template Library) – Org Controller (or higher);

    • Team Folder – Project Controller (or higher)

  • Skills Required: Dashpivot

  • Device Type: computer

  • Subscription: Dashpivot

Step-by-Step Instructions

Create a template in the Home folder (organisation-wide)

Use this option if the template should be available across your organisation.

  1. Go to the Home Folder.

  2. Select the Template Library tab.

  3. Click Add Template in the top right-hand side.

  4. Select Build your own to create a template from scratch, or Use a free public template to use an existing template from the Template Library.

  5. If you selected Build your own, click Browse free templates in the Template Editor to preview templates or overwrite your blank template if required.

  6. Choose between Timeline and Workflow for your template format.

    • Timeline templates are best for recording ongoing, time-based logs without a status

    • Workflow templates are designed to manage tasks or processes that move through defined stages.

Comparison between Timeline and Workflow templates:

Template Format

Timeline

Workflow

Approval Process

Not applicable

Required - forms progress through workflow columns using Approval Signatures

Notifications

Not applicable

Can be set in workflow columns, at each stage

Editing functions

At any point, by any Dashpivot Contributor that has access to the relevant folder

Each Approval Signature locks the above section of the form, preventing edits to be made without removing signature

Create a Template in a Team Folder

  1. Go to the relevant Team Folder.

  2. Select the All Templates tab.

  3. Click Add Template in the top right-hand side.

  4. Select Build your own, Use a free public template, or Select from Your Org Template Library.

  5. Choose between Timeline and Workflow for your template format.

Note: Team members are not able to add templates, only Team Controllers and above permissions
