How to Add Your Project Alignment to Show Up in the Photo GPS Location Window on Dashpivot Web

Learn how to upload a project alignment KML file in Sitemate so that it displays relative to your photo GPS location on the map.

Adding a project alignment (as a KML file) allows you to see where photos were taken in relation to key project features such as control lines, utilities, site boundaries, or other alignment references. Once uploaded, this alignment will be visible on the photo GPS location window.

Prerequisites

Before you begin make sure you have the following:

  • Plan: Standard

  • Permission:

    • Configure project alignment: DP Project Controller (and higher)

    • View photos: Team Member (and higher)

  • Skills Required: Dashpivot

  • Device Type: Computer

  • Subscription: Dashpivot

  • A KML file of your project alignment (meeting file requirements)

  • Max file size for the KML: 3 MB


​Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Select the project folder.

  2. Go to Settings.

  3. Go to Project Alignment

  4. Upload Your Alignment File

    • Click the blue Upload alignment button.

    • Choose your KML file from your computer and upload it.

  5. View the Alignment

    • Once uploaded, any geotagged photos in this project will display the alignment on the GPS location map.

Note

  • Each project can have one project alignment only. Uploading a new alignment will overwrite the existing one.

  • Project alignments must be uploaded in KML format and meet the following limits:

    • Maximum file size: 3 MB

    • Maximum 10 layers and 10 network links

    • Maximum 1,000 features per file

  • To export a KML from 12D, use File β†’ Export β†’ KML, select MGA94 Zone 56, then process and save the file.
