Storm’s AI Text Fill feature lets you fill in a Dashpivot form by having a conversation over SMS or WhatsApp without downloading an app or logging in. It’s a quick option for workers on site, subcontractors and visitors.
Storm generates all of its conversational messages — including its greeting, form questions, submit offer, and rating ask — in the language it detects from your incoming texts. No setup or language selection needed.
Prerequisites
Plan: All Plan Types
Permission: All users
Device Type: Mobile phone. To use WhatsApp, you'll need the WhatsApp app installed
Subscription: Dashpivot to set it up, but no subscription or account is needed to fill out a form
You’ll also need to make sure:
AI Text Fill is toggled on for your workspace: Your Org Controller can turn Text Fill on or off in Workspace settings. When it's off, the SMS and WhatsApp options won’t appear on your form's Sitemate Link.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Start an AI Text Fill form via Sitemate Links
Create a Sitemate link for the form you want to fill using AI Text Fill, or use an existing one
Download the poster and scan the Sitemate QR code with your phone camera
On the page that opens, choose Text or WhatsApp.
Tap Continue. A draft message to Storm opens in your messaging app, with the form link already written in. If you’re using a computer, you’ll instead see a QR code that you’ll need to scan with your phone camera.
Hit Send on the draft message.
Step 2: Answer Storm's questions
Storm works through the form and asks you questions one message at a time. Reply in your own words, the same way you'd text a colleague. Storm detects your language from your first message and replies in that language throughout the whole conversation. To speed up your form fill, you can:
Give as much detail as you can in one reply: Storm picks out answers to later questions too, so you won't be asked ones you’ve answered again.
Answer several checks at once: For multiple yes/no or pass/fail questions, you can reply "yes to all", "no to all" or "all good". You can also call out exceptions, such as "all good except the ladder".
Reply in the language you’re most comfortable with: Storm will continue the conversation in the language you switch to, then fill the form in its original language
Add photos: Send one or more photos in the chat and Storm will add them to the field and your Dashpivot photo library. On SMS, Storm will guide you to complete photo fields on WhatsApp.
Note: Voice notes, videos and other attachments are not supported yet for AI Text Fill.
Helpful replies
Reply | What it does |
how many left | Tells you how many questions are left in the form |
undo that | Removes your last answer so you can change it |
skip the rest | Skips the remaining questions so you can finish up |
STOP | Ends the session and sends you the review link straight away, where you can continue to edit the form in your browser |
Step 3: Review, sign and submit
When Storm has finished asking questions, it sends you a submit offer in your detected language. You have two options:
Reply with a clear yes — or the equivalent in any supported language — and Storm submits the form on your behalf.
Or tap the review link to open the form in Sitemate Mobile Web, check Storm’s answers, make any edits, then tap Submit.
Frequently asked questions
I don't see the Text or WhatsApp option on the Sitemate Link page.
Text Fill may be turned off for your workspace. Ask your Org Controller to turn it on in Workspace settings.
Does Storm submit the form automatically?
Not automatically — but when Storm has worked through all the questions, it sends you a submit offer. Reply with “yes” (or the equivalent in your language) to submit directly, or tap the review link to check your answers and submit manually.
What's the difference between SMS and WhatsApp?
Both work the same way for answering questions. WhatsApp also lets you send photos. SMS works on any phone without an app.
Does it support multiple languages?
Yes. Storm detects your language from your first message and replies in that language throughout the whole conversation. A clear “yes” — or its equivalent in any supported language — is also recognised when Storm offers to submit your form. Storm then fills the form in its original template language.
Can I start on one channel and finish on another?
Yes. Message Storm on SMS or WhatsApp from the same phone number and you'll carry on with the same form.
Can I fill in more than one form at the same time?
No. You can have one form in progress at a time, but you can pause it and come back to it later.
Can I use Text Fill outside Australia?
Yes. Storm connects you with the closest local number for your workspace's region where one is available. If there isn't a local number yet, you'll see a notice before you start, and international SMS rates may apply.
Is there an extra cost?
Message and data rates may apply. Standard SMS or data charges from your mobile provider apply. If there's no Sitemate number in your country yet, you'll see a notice before you start, as you may need to text an international number.
