Storm's AI Templates feature helps teams generate editable Dashpivot templates from prompts, uploaded files, and existing paperwork. This allows teams to streamline paper-based workflows faster, reduce manual template setup, and quickly convert existing forms into digital workflows. Once generated, templates remain fully editable using the standard Dashpivot template editor.
Ways to Create Templates Using Storm
There are two ways to generate a Dashpivot Template using the AI Templates feature:
1. Generate a Template From a Prompt
Describe the specific template you want to create, and Storm will build a Dashpivot template for you from scratch using natural language.
Examples of prompts you can use:
“Create a pre-start checklist for electrical subcontractors”
“Build a daily site diary with weather, labor, and plant sections”
“Create a toolbox talk template with signatures and actions”
Storm uses your prompt and context to generate fields, sections, tables, dropdowns, and workflow structures.
2. Import an Existing Document
Upload an existing file, and Storm will convert it directly into an editable Dashpivot template. This is ideal for migrating paper forms, recreating client-supplied forms, and accelerating system setup.
Supported File Types:
.pdf,.docx,.xlsx,.csv,.pngand.jpegPreserved Elements: Storm attempts to preserve structure, layout, headings, field groupings, tables, and workflow logic where possible.
Note: Results vary depending on document clarity, formatting complexity, scan quality, and file structure. Review and refinement after import are recommended.
What Storm Can Help Generate
You can use AI Templates to produce a wide variety of custom operational documents, including:
Inspections & quality checklists
Site diaries & daily reports
Permits & safety forms
Toolbox talks & meeting minutes
ITPs and hold/witness point registers
JSA / SWMS / RAMS
NCRs and defect reports
Shift handover reports
Time and materials dockets
Generated Templates Are Fully Editable
Templates created using Storm behave exactly like standard Dashpivot templates. Once the initial file is generated, you can easily edit fields, change layouts, update workflows, add logic, configure permissions, and modify dropdowns or linked lists.
System Processing and Background Behavior
Once template generation or file import begins, Storm manages the workflow in the background so your team can remain productive.
Background Processing: Users can continue working elsewhere in Dashpivot while generations run.
Import Queue Limit: Up to 10 files can be processed at once when using the Import tool.
Prompt Queue Limit: When using the Generate tool, users can start a new template request as soon as the previous request begins processing.
Governance, Security, and Permissions
Permissions and Access
AI Templates is available exclusively to users who already hold template creation permissions within Dashpivot. This includes:
Org Controllers
Project Controllers
Team Controllers
Standard Dashpivot permissions and governance controls apply to all generated documents.
Turning Off AI Templates
AI Templates is enabled by default for paid accounts and free trials. Org Controllers can easily enable or disable the feature at any time by navigating to: Home Folder → Settings → Feature Access.
Note: Org Members can view this setting but do not have permission to modify it.
Security and Data Usage
No AI Model Training: Storm does not use customer data, uploaded documents, or prompts to train AI models.
Data Isolation: Uploaded documents and text prompts are processed solely to generate your requested template. Data is never retained or reused to train third-party AI models.
Log Retention: Some sub-processors may temporarily retain API logs purely for abuse monitoring purposes before permanent deletion.
