Storm's AI Form Fill feature allows workers and teams to quickly complete forms by uploading photos, typing notes, or recording audio. The AI processes these inputs and automatically fills relevant form fields, saving time and reducing manual data entry. This feature is designed for all Dashpivot users who want to streamline form completion workflows.
Prerequisites
Before you begin make sure you have the following:
Plan: All Plan Types
Permission: All users
Device Type: Computer (browser)
Subscription: Dashpivot
Device/Browser Permissions: Microphone permissions enabled
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Open a Form
Navigate to your Team Folder.
Open an existing form or create a new form.
Step 2: Open AI Form Fill
Click the Storm button located at the bottom of the form.
The AI Form Fill canvas will open on your screen. (You can collapse or reopen this canvas at any time while working on the form).
Step 3: Add Your Information
You can provide information using one or multiple input types in the same session:
Upload Photos: Upload supported image files (
.jpgor.png) from your device or directly from your Team Folders. For best OCR results on dockets, nameplates, and labels, shoot flat and square-on in good light. For defects or site context, framing determines how Storm routes the photo — a close-up reads as a defect photo, a wide shot reads as a site context photo.Type Notes or Instructions: Type notes into the text area. You can also give Storm specific formatting instructions.
Examples: “Rewrite this as meeting minutes”, “Use paragraph format instead of bullet points”, or “Add another row to the workers table”.
Record Audio: Click the microphone icon (allow browser permissions if prompted) and start speaking naturally. Click stop when finished. Storm can process recordings up to 90 minutes long.
Tip: Use exact times where possible ("08:30" rather than "around 8"). Storm flags approximate times for review rather than assuming.
Step 4: Start AI Processing
Click Fill. (This button becomes available as soon as you add at least one input type).
Storm will begin processing the uploaded information to:
Examine voice recordings and uploaded photos.
Detect activities, names, issues, and equipment.
Generate overviews and populate supported fields, tables, or sections.
Step 5: Continue Working or Review
Processing may take several seconds to several minutes depending on recording length, photo count, and form complexity.
Multi-tasking: You can continue working elsewhere in Dashpivot by selecting Come back later. Your processing will continue in the background.
Review: Once Storm finishes, review all generated responses, edit any fields if needed, and complete any remaining required fields.
Save: Manually save or submit the form. Storm never automatically submits a form.
Notes
Confidence-Based Rules - Storm only fills fields when confidence is high enough.
If Storm is unsure about spoken information, dropdown matches, linked list selections, or photo mapping, fields will remain blank for manual review instead of guessing.
Fields Storm Never Fills — Signatures and sign-off fields, system-generated numbers (permit numbers, document numbers, GRNs), and prefilled template content are never auto-filled regardless of input. These always require manual action.
Fully Editable Content - All AI-generated content remains fully editable and behaves exactly like standard Dashpivot form content.
Supports Progressive, Iterative Workflows- You can run AI Form Fill multiple times before saving a form. This allows you to attach additional photos, record more updates later in the day, or provide follow-up instructions to build out your form progressively. When re-running AI Form Fill on a form that already has content, Storm appends new information under the relevant headings. Existing content is preserved verbatim and never rewritten.
Offline Support
Dashpivot Web: AI Form Fill does not work offline because active internet access is required for Storm cloud processing.
Dashpivot Mobile: Limited offline support is available. While offline, users can still record voice notes, add photos, and type notes. Once internet connectivity is restored, content queues automatically, processing begins, and the completed draft becomes available for review.
