If your Excel or Power BI file connected to Flowsite is not updating, the Flow connection may have been reset or broken. Reconnecting the Flow will restore the data refresh.

Why This Happens

Common reasons why Excel or Power BI failed to update data:

  • Excel or Power Bi probably erased cached data of the credentials or the source itself

  • The connection of credentials may have expired

  • Excel or Power Bi updated or crashed thus breaking the connection

Remove Credentials and Reconnect the Flow

Excel or Power Bi has probably erased cached data of the credentials or the source itself. If this happens do the following settings:

  1. Open Data Source Settings

    Excel

    Go to Data tab.

    • Click Get Data (upper-left corner).

    • Select Data Source Settings.

    Power BI

    • Click the dropdown beside Transform Data.

    • Select Data Source Settings.

  2. Clear Permissions

    • In the pop-up window, locate the Flowsite URL.

      • Select it.

      • Click Clear Permissions

      • Click Delete to remove existing credentials.

  3. Reconnect the Credentials

    Excel

    • Go back to Data, then click Get Data.

    • Select Launch Power Query Editor.

    Power BI

    • Click Transform Data.

  4. Refresh the Query and enter your Flowsite Credentials

    • In Power Query, click Refresh Preview

    • When prompted, choose Edit Credentials

In the Access Web Content window:

  • Switch to Basic.

  • Select the last option in the dropdown.

  • Enter Flowsite credentials then press Connect.

  • Once connected, click 'Refresh Preview' again.

  • Click the 'Close and Load' to apply the changes

⚠️ DIFFERENT FLOW URL

If the Flowsite URL in Data Source Settings does not match your Flow while clearing permissions, update it to the correct one by clicking 'Change Source…', then entering the correct Flow URL in the URL field. Once the source is updated, proceed to Step 2.
