This guide explains how to connect Microsoft Excel to Flowsite on a Windows device. By linking Excel to your Flowsite flows, you can automatically sync data from Dashpivot into your spreadsheets, enabling real-time reporting and reducing manual data handling. This is useful for users who want to analyse or report on Dashpivot data within Excel.

Prerequisites

Before you begin make sure you have the following:

  • Plan: All Plan Types

  • Permission: Dashpivot Contributor

  • Skills Required: Excel-based Data Querying

  • Device Type: Windows Computer/Browser

  • Subscription: Dashpivot, Flowsite, Microsoft Excel

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open your Excel file.

  2. Go to the Data tab.

  3. Select the From Web icon.

  4. Paste the URL into the data source. Ensure Basic is selected, then click OK.

  5. Click Basic on the left, then copy and paste the Username and Password from the Flowsite Destination section. Select the last option in the dropdown (with the corresponding link extension matching the URL entered).

  6. Click the Connect button.

  7. In the preview popup, select Transform Data to open Power Query.

  8. Clean up the data using Power Query as needed (for example removing columns or filling down data), then click Close and Load to save and load the data into Excel.

  9. Repeat the process for all your flows.

Notes

  • You will need the URL, Username, and Password provided during flow creation.

  • You can set or update the data refresh frequency and timing within the Flow Editor.

  • You can manually trigger the flow for an immediate refresh, which is useful for testing.

  • This process applies to Windows devices only.
