# The Sitemate Open API

# Introduction

The Sitemate Open API allows built-world companies to connect their own applications to Sitemate's product suite (Dashpivot and Gearbelt) through a world-class API. The Sitemate Open API is designed for customer use from the ground up and will bring best practices in API performance to customers, including:

- An online developer portal hosting a range of features, such as:

  - Documentation which is consistently updated to reflect new endpoints

  - Developer friendly real-world code examples and how-to guides, and

  - Clear updates about the status of the API and upcoming changes

- Simple data structures and a simple API

- An advanced feature set (such as versioning, pagination, easy to understand error messaging, and more)

## Gearbelt API — Generally Available

The Gearbelt API is now generally available. Access is open to any workspace with valid M2M (FusionAuth) credentials — no per-account enablement is required.

**📓 Note:** The "Public API Beta" toggle has been removed from Settings → Feature Access. This setting no longer exists.

⚠️ **Migration Notice — Existing Dashpivot API Users**

If you are an existing Dashpivot API user, you must regenerate your API token to gain Gearbelt API access. Go to **Flowsite > Settings > Developer** and regenerate your token. Your existing Dashpivot API token will not automatically grant Gearbelt access.

📓 Note: One API token covers all Sitemate APIs — both Dashpivot and Gearbelt.

# Availability

**Dashpivot API:** Generally available on all Flowsite plans (Free and up).
​**Gearbelt API:** Generally available to any workspace with valid M2M (FusionAuth) credentials, subject to workspace header requirements, rate limiting, and per-endpoint scoping.

## What you can access with the Gearbelt API (v1 — read-only):

- Assets

- Work Orders

- Inspections

- Documents

This first version is read-only. Full documentation is available on the [Sitemate developer portal](https://developers.sitemate.com).

## 📓 Note

- **File delivery to SharePoint or OneDrive:** The Open API is a data access layer for Dashpivot and Gearbelt only — it does not deliver files or PDFs to external destinations such as SharePoint or OneDrive. To send completed Dashpivot forms as PDFs into a SharePoint document library, you need the [Flowsite SharePoint integration](https://help.sitemate.com/en/articles/9637091-sharepoint-forms-integration-with-dashpivot-via-flowsite), which is available on Pro+ plans.
