Adding a project alignment (as a KML file) allows you to see where photos were taken in relation to key project features such as control lines, utilities, site boundaries, or other alignment references. Once uploaded, this alignment will be visible on the photo GPS location window.

Video Walkthrough

Prerequisites

Before you begin make sure you have the following:

  • A Sitemate account with access to the relevant project

  • Permissions to edit project settings

  • A KML file of your project alignment (meeting file requirements)

  • Max file size for the KML: 3 MB

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open the Project

    • In the Sitemate sidebar, click on the project you want to add an alignment to.

  2. Access Project Settings

    • From the project’s Home screen, click Settings.

  3. Go to Project Alignment

    • In the left-hand menu, select Project Alignment.

  4. Upload Your Alignment File

    • Click the blue Upload alignment button.

    • Choose your KML file from your computer and upload it.

  5. View the Alignment

    • Once uploaded, any geotagged photos in this project will display the alignment on the GPS location map.

How to Change or Update an Alignment

  • Only one project alignment can be stored per project.

  • To change it, simply repeat the upload steps and select a revised KML—the existing one will be overwritten.

Rules

  • Accepted format: KML only.

  • File must not exceed 3 MB.

  • Max of 10 layers and 10 network links.

  • Max 1,000 document-wide features.
